At QIntegral we regard depth conversion as a vital component of any QI study because of its importance in assessing structural conformity of potential DHIs. In addition, velocity information used during depth conversion should be constrained by and held consistent with the rock physics analysis.

The depth conversion method can be varied to suit the availability and quality of data (wells, seismic velocities) and to suit the needs of the project. For example, regional studies may not require sophisticated calibration to well control, whereas development or production projects require careful attention in this area. Most typically, we apply a workflow known as the Calibrated Seismic Velocity method, whereby seismic velocities are conditioned appropriately and calibrated to well control using a stratigraphic approach.
